These songs are a reconnection with my Italian heritage. Stories, fantasies, tales, and imaginative experiences, inspired by a quasi-Italian life with my grandparents in Diamond Creek, Australia.

I'm still a student of Italian and always a student of music. These recordings are raw, human, and sung with a naive tongue. I believe songs are alive and must be of the moment. These songs were performed solo and recorded live in January 2025.

An exploratory recording from longtime collaborators Reuben Lewis & Adam Halliwell occupying a unique space between contemporary experimental music and avant jazz.
A dialogue that stems from a shared love and respect for Jon Hassell’s Fourth World music. Sonic pioneer and adventurer, Hassell’s futuristic vision advocated possible musics, stressing plurality and multiplicity. Faithful to his vision, Adam and Reuben, as trailblazers rather than imitators, delight in boundless musical possibilities, adopting Hassell’s futurism as stock-in-trade, making it their own while augmented with neo noir hues and hints of the tilted electro-funk of Miles Davis’ collaborations with Marcus Miller.

This recording is an experiment in composing from percussion first. To feel movement in harmony and arrangement through the improvising senses of a percussionist. The melodic and harmonic elements appeared instantly after recording the percussion with Rama Parwata. The additional Tenor Saxophone of Cheryl Durongpisitkul (Sola) and Bass Clarinet of Flora Carbo (Sfondo and Mondo) were the final touches to bring life into the music. The result is a through-composed work, a narrative starting inside the body and expanding outward into the world and beyond.

Recorded over a four-week period in early 2020, Freedom Lapse is the debut solo release of Australian multi-instrumentalist and composer Adam Halliwell. A versatile improviser and lover of performance, Halliwell has been an active contributor to numerous musical communities in recent years. The release of Freedom Lapse marks an exciting stage in Halliwell’s journey as an artist with the culmination of several important musical facets that are now becoming foundational to his practice.
